There are several disadvantages to going to university. We have to pay for wasting our time, during which we may be working and earning money. We may have a responsibility to our job, friends, and family. We can use time in carrying out that responsibility. Going to university adds stress to our life. We have to prepare for examinations, do assignments, and have our papers evaluated and graded. Education doesn't necessarily bring happiness, and ignorance is in some way bliss. Besides, many social ills are in part traceable to humankind's successive increments in its store of knowledge. All these advantages to knowledge may be very excellent reasons to keep us from going to university. However, Moti Nissani says, the advantages are incomparably much superior, and so no one in modern times talks about the disadvantages of going to university. There are many advantages to going to university. Of them, the most obvious one concerns income, job opportunities, and promotional opportunities. The societal benefits are also very striking because society also gets benefitted when an individual educates himself or herself. Knowledge has many practical applications. An educated person can save himself or herself from getting deceived or from wasting money unnecessarily. Educated people can resolve the difficulties of their lives more effectively and amicably. Education is also related to health because educated people are more conscious about their health. Physical exercise helps a person keep himself or herself fit physically. Going to university, which is also a kind of mental exercise, helps him or her keep fit mentally. Education brings the respect of society for educated people because every society respects its learned people. Inquisitiveness is one of the most precious qualities of human beings. It makes them eager to have new knowledge. Going to university helps them retain this quality and enables them to acquire more knowledge. It is important because knowledge in itself is some kind of power, and it is also its own reward. Going to university expands a person's social horizon by enabling him or her to interact with people from different social backgrounds. Education increases personal freedom because it saves people from different forms of indoctrination. Education enables people to know the universe. And finally, education is closely linked to the flourishing of democracy because only educated people can utilize democratic rights effectively.
